Simple Linux ™

SimpleNIX™ is being developed to reduce the need for complexity in the Linux world. We're striving to put together a set of computer clusters which will be responsible for creating all of the tens of thousands of software components which will be used in a raw shell computing (for more advanced users with no need for a graphical environment) as well as a tailor made desktop world which is being designed from the ground, up, to allow most every person out there with applicable computer hardware and the desire for change to step into our virtual booth, take a look around, and when you're ready to take the risk-free and cost-free leap into Linux, simply take a short quiz to custom design your Linux computing experience! There's no need to have any existing Linux experience OR you can be a Linux guru with years of Linux history and/or development under your belt! You'll come to appreciate your very own custom designed OS with no fuss or mess!

Please note: We are currently under initial construction and are not up and operational at this time.
Once we have procured the equipment necessary for the job and have had time to compile the initial inventory
of software we're planning to have available on our launch date, we'll be ready to open our doors to the public.
If you are an author, developer, graphic artist, contributor or investor and have not done so already, please
continue on to the forum using the link at the top-right of this website and if you have not done so, register
for a new account; then leave us a note with your objectives and we'll modify your account as needed.

For those interested in beta-testing please create a forum account and leave a private message to BetaMaster.
For anyone who finds a flaw in our site, even though temporary, please leave a private message to WebMaster.

Features

Intelligent Design

By putting you in charge of what goes into your custom operating system, it has to be smart! There's ZERO fluff, adware, junk apps you have no use for, etc. The only things that go in are the ones you've selected!

Open Source Code

Most everything you'll find in the vast selection of software available through SimpleNIX™ you will also find the raw source code a click away! Many are of our own creation, but most others are the works of people across the globe!

Online Support

During the initial stages of launching SimpleNIX™ people are bound to have questions! Our online forum has been chosen as the wisest place to help our users - or have our users help others! Many times questions have already been asked which saves everyone time and effort!

Developer's Corner

Linux is an ever-growing operating system with new developers coming onboard daily and existing developers creating new and wonderful applications all the time! We have a special area just for folks who want to contribute!

It doesn't matter how you got here. What matters is you finally made it!

Supported Hardware

Devices which are currently supported here fall within PC and ARM structures. For ARM machines, these include Raspberry Pi® and other similar devices assuming drivers and similar required software freely exist for that device. We also need to have at least one of those devices in-house in order to build and test the plateform. For the PC, this includes most any machine dating back to the Intel® Pentium™ processor and newer, 32-bit and 64-bit alike. (Older machines may still function using SimpleNIX™ but are not "supported" as there's no way for us to test the environment you're having a problem in.)

Installation Methods

Testing out or installing SimpleNIX™ is very simple assuming you have a functional CD burner and/or USB flash drive (the machine you're booting Simple Linux™ onto must be able to boot from CD or USB.) You select the content you want included in your operating system and when you receive your email saying your package is ready, you click on the link in the email and download the package onto your computer. Once downloaded, you'll extract the package using the included instructions and create your CD or USB media. The CD and/or USB media WILL NOT erase your existing operating system! Windows™ users, for example, will NOT lose their existing Windows, data, photos, etc. by booting Simple Linux™ and trying it out!
Note: Instructions are offered on how to create a CD or USB stick using a freeware package of our choosing. We cannot provide instructions for every other CD/DVD or USB writing application that's on the market. If you are unsure of how your existing software works, if any, use our recommendations. It will save you a good deal of time and frustration!
